This novel is not easy for me to review since Iâ€™ve seen the movie first. In truth, I didnâ€™t even know it was a book until I seen it on the shelf in the library a few years back. I wished I would of check it out then. At the same time, Iâ€™m not sure that having done that, I would have read The Rules of Magic because while this story is great, there are years (22 years) of storytelling experience between Practical Magic and The Rules of Magic. Donâ€™t get me wrong, itâ€™s still well-written, but there is a difference. Overall, itâ€™s still another great story of the bonds of sisterhood, the tragedy, and triumph of love. Another great adventure by Alice Hoffman.In this novel, you get all the great magical prose as you do in The Rules of Magic. The storyline is similar, but with drastically different life experiences, content, and events. I loved that as it added to the whole Owens women are all destined for an enchanting life vibe.Iâ€™m sure some want to know how it compares to the movie. You canâ€™t compare the two. They are peas and carrots. I canâ€™t say I like one better than the other because this novel is very different from the movie. With the novel, there is more depth about Sally and Gillianâ€™s life from childhood to adulthood. Even better, there is more narrative for Antonia and Kylie as they grow into their teens.I love the movie and I always will, but I love the book differently. Either way, I adore this family of sincere and driven women and the final page brought on the same dread as the last page of The Rules of Magic. I simply didnâ€™t want it to end.

To preface my review I felt it necessary to mention that I read the prequel to this book titled, The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman prior to reading Practical Magic. Since Fall had finally begun and Halloween (my favorite holiday) was right around the corner reading Practical Magic just felt right . In my opinion reading the perquel helped me to better understand the history of the Owens family curse and the role it has played for generations. You cannot help but fall in love with ALL the Owens women including the ancient and mysterious aunts Francis and Jet (the main characters in the prequel) who took up residence in the infamous Owens family home established by their ancestor Maria Owens Hundreds of earlier. The aunts also took over the "family business" of magic...creating potions, remidies and of course the art of spell casting that has been passed down from generation to generation. The main characters in Practical Magic, sisters Sally and Gillian find themselves parentless and orphaned with only the aunts to turn to. Their world is completely turned upside down in a single evening and when the girls arrive at their aunts they soon discover the truth of who and what they really are. It seems that through out history the Owens women have tried to deny, hid and run away from who they really are, but fate always has its way of bringing out the truth and bringing the sisters and their aunts back together. Sally and Gillian are complete opposites from day one, but blood, family, the curse and of course love brings this family closer and closer. This book is a true testament to the powerful bond of sisters, the importance of family and the dangers that await along the road to self acceptance. There is also a movie called Practical Magic that is based on this book, if you love the book I would recommend watching the movie as well...but read the book and/or books first. Honestly, you should ready both books: The Rules of Magic (prequel) and Practical Magic prior to watching the movie Practical Magic. This was a fast but great weekend read. I highly recommend reading both books in this series by Alice Hoffman and if you enjoyed them watch the movie. The book of course was better than the movie with a few different twists. Nicole Kidman (Gillian Owens) and Sandra Bullock (Sally Owens) bring this story to life in the movie Practical Magic, they could not have picked 2 better women to play these fabulous characters Alice Hoffman worked to hard to create.

I was excited when I found out this book was real. I grew up watching the movie and I had fell in love with how in the MOVIE the sisters had an unbreakable bond and the aunts were they type of aunts I desperately wished I had growing up. Aunts who let the girls eat chocolate for breakfast, did magical spells in the kitchen, wore purple and made midnight margaritas. However, aunts in the book are very different from the film. They are much older and much creepier. The book doesn't really talk about a family curse that the Owens women are plagued with but as you read you find the sad truth of just how the "cruse" started and how it trickled down to Sally and Gillian.The book is almost the opposite from the film in every way. Sally and Gillian are sisters that lose their parents and are sent to live with their aunts who are the local witches in a very small and close-minded town. The aunts pretty much let the girls raise themselves which causes Sally to become the logical one who always had to think and calculate every step before she takes it and Gillian who throws caution to the wind and wears her heart of her sleeve. In the book, Sally is very resentful of her sister and at times hates her. The book is well written but tends to drift off in places. One moment you're reading about how difficult of a time Sally is having raising her teenage daughters and the next you're reading about the thoughts of a pizza delivery boy who makes a brief appearance in one paragraph.Sally loses her husband in a freak accident and then spends a year basically as a mute who ignores her daughters and responsibilities as a mother. Gillian marries many times and leaves her husbands heartbroken because the sparks has gone out for her and she finds herself in a bored. Hoffman describes the way the sisters fall in love with their "true loves" like being struck by lightning. When Gillian shows up at her sisters place - after having not seen each other for many years - with her dead boyfriend she is in desperate need of help. The book and film are two different types of stories. The movie leaves out so much and changes important plot points. The book in its own way is beautifully written and a very different type of love story. Not my usual cup of tea...but I defiantly would recommend it.

Most of this book is about chess and chess engines and Kasparovâ€™s experiences with them, especially in his two matches with IBMâ€™s Deep Blue. But there is much more. The central theme of the book can be seen in this quote from page 259: â€œâ€¦technology can make us more human by freeing us to be more creativeâ€¦â€Like Kasparov (peak rating of 2851 in 1999) I (peak rating of 2080 in 1974) have been absolutely fascinated with chess playing programs going back to the eighties when the best engine played at about the USCF 1200 level. I bought one of the first Chessmaster programs and subsequently several others as well. I also bought the Fritz engines when they came out and others including I believe the first Zarkov program. What Kasparov shows is that it is a combination of brute force from the chess engines and the creative and process-finding ability of the human that makes for the strongest player. In human tournaments of course you canâ€™t get help from your cell phone (and hopefully not from a device in your back molar!), but in preparation for a tournament and especially for a match a strong chess engine can be invaluable. Kasparov makes it clear that the proliferation of younger and younger and stronger and stronger grandmasters came about because of the maturing strength of the chess engines which allowed players to study at a level and with an intensity previously impossible.Kasparov goes on to generalize this idea for other forms of human endeavor. Artificial Intelligence is in the final analysis a tool to augment human creativity and foster human achievement. (This is not to say it wonâ€™t be used in detrimental ways.) Fifty-five years ago my friend Bill Maillard, who is a mathematician and a master chess player, put it this way: machine intelligence will eventually exceed human intelligence but it will be the humans that make the decisions.For Kasparov (quoting John McCarthy who coined the term â€œartificial intelligenceâ€ in 1956) chess became â€œthe Drosophila of AI,â€ the fruit fly that allows scientific experiments. Put ironically in another way, Kasparov (with tongue in cheek) titled an earlier book of his â€œHow Life Imitates Chess.â€ What is most interesting about Garry Kasparov is just how intelligent, learned and articulate he is compared to the vast number of chess players. Anybody who has put in the time and energy it takes to become a grandmaster really doesnâ€™t have time to be well readâ€”usually. One only has to recall the very limited abilities of Bobby Fischer away from the chess board. â€“Speaking of whom, Kasparov has this little story about Fischer on page 92: When â€œan eager fan pressed him after a difficult winâ€ with â€œNice game, Bobby!â€ Fischer retorted, â€œHow would you know.â€Another interesting thing about Kasparov is how he can be both modest and very confident at the same time. Part of what makes this book so interesting is the way Kasparov reveals himself. He faults himself for the infamous resignation in game two of the second Deep Blue match and even reveals that he didnâ€™t realize the position was drawn until the next day when told so by his seconds. He explains why he lost the match while making plausible excuses based on what he thought was unfair advantages on the other side. This part of the book, which focuses intently on those matches, reveals a very human and likable person, perhaps akin to a character in a popular novel, a person with great strengths and some weaknesses. For example, on page 105 Kasparov writes, â€œI can say without any false modesty that I was the best-prepared player in the history of chess.â€For many readers the most interesting parts of the book will deal with Kaparovâ€™s understanding of AI (and IA, â€œintelligence amplificationâ€) and how the technology has developed and where K thinks itâ€™s going. He is less afraid of the surveillance than many people and for the most part sees that the increased knowledge we have of others and ourselves through technology will do more good than harm. He notes that â€œOur lives are being converted into dataâ€ but â€œThe greatest security problem we have will always be human nature.â€ (p. 118) He adds on the next page, â€œPrivacy is dying, so transparency must increase.â€ His knowledge is impressive, and he and his collaborator Mig Greengard write so clearly and engagingly that the book is a pleasure to read.I should add that the book is beautifully designed and meticulously edited. I didnâ€™t notice a single typo and nary a muddled sentence.One other thing: even very experienced chess players will probably learn something about the game of chess they didnâ€™t know or something about the history of chess they missed. I know I did.Some quotables:â€œRomanticizing the loss of jobs to technology is little better than complaining that antibiotics put too many grave diggers out of work.â€ (p. 42) This is a statement that bears some scrutiny, and indeed might be the subject of a future Kasparov book.In 1989 Kasparov played the Deep Thought chess engine. After Kasparov won the tabloid New York Post wrote, â€œRed Chess King Quick Fries Deep Thoughtâ€™s Chips.â€ (p. 111)â€œMistakes almost never walk alone.â€ (p. 239)â€œIntelligence is whatever machines havenâ€™t done yetâ€ (quoting Larry Tesler). (p. 251)â€œThereâ€™s a business saying that if youâ€™re the smartest person in the room, youâ€™re in the wrong room.â€ (p. 252) --Dennis Littrell, author of â€œThe World Is Not as We Think It Isâ€

Deep Thinking is Kasparov's story of his match against Deep Blue and the evolution of playing against chess programs. The book tries to touch on the penetration of AI in society today and the author brings his perspective on the benefits of technology to today's world. This book is largely about the author's experience of the improvements in chess programming, how he faced it psychologically and how he prepared for games in this new era. Much of the book is the author detailing his thought process through these headline matches and his narrative on his behavior and the process broadly. If one has followed the career of Kasparov, this book will be very informative. If one is looking for a book on AI in chess programming, it isn't really about that.The author starts with two goals, to discuss the growth of AI and use of computers in today's society and what it should mean for people given his experience in a job which was directly impacted by it as well as to give an account of the matches he endured against deep blue. The author starts by discussing early AI, the coverage is definitely not comprehensive but it gives the reader a good sense of how computation evolved and early ideas on AI and how to program it. The author discusses early pioneers in computer science and how some viewed chess as an admirable AI project given its complexity. Kasparov gives you a sense of the early computer days and the ideas used to program chess. In particular the easiest and easiest idea was to define an objective function for the computer to maximize in its search that valued chess pieces accurately. The author also discusses how databases were then added so that computers could improve efficiency by looking up positions from these databases. The author spends time on people and pattern recognition and how the mind works. The author's views on the technical subjects are well informed but not the focus. The author then gets into the detailing of his games against deep blue and the developers at IBM. He discusses both matches in great depth and discusses the commentary. It is interesting but probably more interesting to those who followed closely the matches and recall the atmosphere at the time. The author discusses how he focused on avoiding tactical positions where a computer would always be more effective and instead focus on strategic goals which were far harder for a computer to be able to capture in an objective function. One gets a better sense of high level chess and how a world champion thinks. The match against Deep Blue where Kasparov lost is the biggest focus and he discusses various moves and his strategy as well as his thinking on positions which were supposed turning points. Again if one had followed the match I suspect this resonates more but it is entertaining for those who did not. The author then discusses how chess is learned today and the broad use of computers in learning and strategy development. It discusses how computers can aid our development but can also be used as too much of a crutch.All in all Deep Thinking was an entertaining read. It is definitely more for the chess aficionado than those interested in AI. I also think reading the book gets the reader more interested in chess so that also might be a good reason to read it. The techno optimism part of the book is well reasoned but definitely there is far better material out there on how to think about technology and its impact on the future than a book on how a professional chess player was impacted by it but it is a valuable perspective nonetheless. Entertaining if one has the time.

The name of the book 'Deep Thinking' led me to believe I would get some interesting perspective and state of the art of AI. Unfortunately it did not appear anything more than a memoir. Throughout the book he appears bitter with IBM and sometimes even arrogant. To those deeply interested in chess as a game may find it interesting. To me, I could've better spent my time learning something more educational and interesting.

Kasparov was the World Chess Champion for awhile and was also involved in Russian politics, but the book is disappointing. He talks a lot about his chess playing experience and computers that were programmed to beat him and doesn't go too deeply into a discussion of what makes up intelligence intelligence--either human or machine. His is a light touch, and I expected much more from him. The book is more about why he lost to the computer, than what constitutes real intelligence. Disappointed

A fascinating book. The tale of the first epic battle between human and machine, foreshadowing what is to come. It's also a refreshing perspective on AI weaknesses and strengths, and in very concrete terms, thanks to the fact chess provides a clear context for what it means to be strategic versus tactical and creative versus rational (as opposed to more philosophical, political and speculative approaches).

Kasparov spent a lot of time writing what went through his mind during the match and re-match in 1996 & 1997 respectively. It's fantastic insights into how human thinking is different from machine thinking, insights we can use for ourselves on how we can prevent ourselves from being replaced by machines to working together with machines.Strongly recommended for anyone who is in the field of Artificial Intelligence (bulk of the reason why I bought it). Have fun reading it!

The author has written the book in detail that is easy to understand. Also has many excellent recipes and easy ingredients to find in your grocery store all recipes sound easy to make.Helps you in many ways staring having a healthy life and change your bad eating habits. Is not only for people with kidney disease is for everyone who wants be healthy and eat better. Recommended.

This is completely new to me I never knew about renal diet. Basically one of my friend told me about this cookbook where i will get some recipes which is good for kidney disease. After reading this book i have learn how it works for us. I'm really happy to get this book.

The first part of the book (finally) spelled out my goals. I've never seen them all in one place. I cannot wait to try the recipes. There are so many that would look good if this were a traditional cookbook. The salad dressings were especially welcome.

John R. (Jack) Deller, Jr. is professor of electrical and computer engineering at Michigan State University where he directs the Speech Processing Laboratory. He received the 1998 IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Paper Award and the 1997 IEEE Signal Processing Society Meritorious Service Award for his six-year service as editor in chief of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine. Dr. Deller is the coauthor of Digital Signal Processing and the Microcontroller (Prentice Hall, 1999) and currently serves as associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing. He is a Fellow of the IEEE. John H. L. Hansen is an associate professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder; he holds appointments in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Hansen serves as associate director for the Center for Spoken Language Understanding (CSLU) and director of research activities of the Robust Speech Processing Laboratory at CSLU. He has served as technical advisor to the U.S. delegate for NATO, and he is associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing and of the IEEE Signal Processing Letters. Dr. Hansen received the 1990 National Science Foundation Research Initiation Award and has been named a Lilly Foundation Teaching Fellow for contributions to the advancement of engineering education. This book is very thorough, but at times it seems like the authors go out of their way to keep their discussion on a very theoretical level.Chapter 1: A highly theoretical review of DSP. You need good knowledge of DSP to understand it.Chapter 2: Goes over the human speech production and recognition systems. Here you get some practical info on the spectral and time-domain properties that distinguish speech sounds.Chapter 3: Describes a model of the speech production based on a series of pulses passed through filters that correspond to features of the human speech production system. Practical issues such as which zero and pole values work best are left as an exercise to the reader.Chapter 4: A lot of mathematics relating long-term statistical properties to those of a short frame of speech data. Contains good info on how to find recursive formulas for statistical properties of speech frames. It is a great shame that the authors don't include examples in MATLAB or pseudo code.Chapter 5: Linear Prediction. Discusses a mathematical algorithm for creating a prediction filter that could be used to predict the next value in a series of data. In speech processing we are interested in using the coefficients of this prediction filter to encapsulate the properties of a speech frame. Examples of 1st,, 2nd, and 3rd order filters would have gone along way to illustrate how to implement this. There are some good formulas to measure the degree of similarities between speech frames based on their LP filter coefficients.Chapter 6: Introduces the concept of the cepstrum. Cepstral analysis allows you to de-convolve speech data to separate the excitation source from the vocal tract filter. That way you can lifter out (a play on filter out) the excitation (responsible for pitch) and focus only on the vowel sounds. As always, how to make it work is left as an exercise.The rest of the book is about speech coding and speech recognition. My class did not cover the later chapters, so I only read the parts that applied to projects.The book helped me understand speech processing journal articles which tend to assume a lot of background knowledge.The theoretical background that this book provides is necessary; good engineers need to understand the underpinnings of their bag of tricks. It is painful, however, at times. To apply the information in this book, you will certainly need a good mentor and a lot of tinkering in MATLAB.

Very thorough book about speech recognition. I should say this book is not quite for novices in this particular field. One should know at least basics of digital signal processing and for that refer to Proakis, Manolakis - Digital Signal Processing. Of course, your mileage may vary.However, there is absence of implementation of real world situations, whether it would be in Matlab, Python etc.

I've seen a lot of books on Speech processing, but this one's the best by quite some margin. Rabiner & Schafer's classic could've edged this one out, but it's slightly dated now(1978 was a long time ago!) - it remains a great source for the fundamentals, though. However, this book is uptodate, as well as quite exhaustive in its coverage of the basics. One can get a solid grasp of basic speech processing(eg pitch analysis), synthesis, compression and recognition. The chapters on recognition, especially, are quite impressive,with detailed treatment of all the standard techniques in the field,including Dynamic time warping,Hidden Markov models & Neural networks. Everything from isolated word recognition to large vocabulary continuous speech recognition is touched upon.This book is an ideal starting point for exploring the world of speech processing,which is a very rich area of research and has virtually limitless commercial applications,too.A word of caution though - this is not for the layman.One requires a bit of a background in mathematics,and a little knowledge of digital signal processing won't hurt either.I have only nice things to say about this book.The only possible crib could be the hefty price tag,but then this is typical of books in this field.All in all,it's an excellent textbook,which ought to be read by everyone working in speech processing.

I have found it very valuable in clarifying certain concepts and an essential reference for my thesis. Some readers may find this book frustrating in some aspects because they are not familiar with the background of certain topics. It is often best to reread the conceptual portion of those chapters and look for other resources that explain the details of those topics in a more tangible language.

Lonely Planet never lets you down....this slim book contains a ton of information on Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island....there is even a tiny bit of information on how to get and stay in St. Pierre & Miquelon (An overseas department of France!) I really enjoyed the information and tiny maps. Highly recommended.

I have been using Lonely Planet books for years. I travelled all over Asia and Europe for 7 years with Lonely Planet. They were not small books, but they were worth carrying in the backpack for their wealth of useful information. I couldn't say enough good things about their books. This book on Nova Scotia on the other hand was a huge disappointment, as well as a total waste of time and money. The authors did a poor job at researching the areas, missing important historical facts and pertinent information. One hotel suggested by the book in Cape Breton was so horrific and dilapidated from the outside that we didn't even stop, we kept driving, it made sleeping in the car sound like a great option. After a few attempts at using it, the book spent the rest of the trip in the back of the car. Don't waste your money on that one, ask the locals, they are very friendly. Lonely Planet if you are reading this, sorry to say, but you may want to reassess how you vet your writers, the content is very poor in this book, at times, irrelevant.

Gives a good, general overview for trip planning but not enough detail on Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island, and Prince Edward Island when you're actually there. A lot of the book was taken up by Newfoundland and Labrador which could have been a separate book.

An okay book if you have no other references. Gave it away and used Trip Advisor instead.

The book was in very good condition with hardly any markings by previous owner. It probably was a little out of date with some Accomodation and Eating suggestions but on the whole very useful for background and historical information about the various regions of Nova Scotia. It did help to purchase a road map to use with the book though, plus an information leaflet on distances between major towns and Halifax as we drove ourselves for a fortnight. We were pleased to get the book earlier than the predicted delivery date so we could plan a route beforehand.

This is the best travel book!!! Must have for road trip vacations & recommendations! So glad I purchased this travel book!!!

Positive things: it's new. The "Understanding NS/NB/PEI" section was very interesting and made me wish there were more to it.First off - and this is by far my biggest beef with this book - the cover is not correct; it also covers Newfoundland and Labrador. I don't see this as a "you get 52 extra pages on something else also!", I see it as "you bought a book that has 52 pages on something you didn't know about and potentially don't care about, which could have been spent on 52 pages more on the three things listed on the cover!" Seriously, the Newfoundland and Labrador section is way bigger than the PEI section and even bigger than the New Brunswick section. I'm perfectly competent to buy a book on Newfoundland if I wanted it, but this book wasn't supposed to be about that, so why are all these pages dedicated to it? You want to know what the "Top 10" sites for "Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island" is? Well, buy a ferry ticket because you'll have to go to Newfoundland for numbers 5 and 8. It's like nobody was paying attention to this. I would have definitely bought a different book had I realized a lot of it was covering somewhere I was not visiting.Have from a few days to two weeks to visit "NS/NB/PEI"? Their itineraries will not have you set foot on Cape Breton Island (which is a big part of Nova Scotia). Only their "head straight to Newfoundland" tour would have you go through Cape Breton Island. I can't take their recommendations very seriously if this is the only itinerary they offer to travelers that recommends travelers go to Cape Breton Island. Just TWELVE pages of this entire book are devoted to CBI, which is, for my money, the most beautiful and interesting part of NS/NB/PEI. Thinking that more of the Newfoundland/Labrador section could have been used for pages on CBI made me much more frustrated.Also, I found the accommodations section to be almost useless, but this might be an issue with the Lonely Planet style. On my previous trip to the region, and my upcoming one, out of 18 total nights spent in NS/NB/PEI, only two of those nights were/will be spent in places mentioned in this book. It just doesn't list many places at all in the cities and towns it covers. I'm much more likely to find good information about lodging on the big online trip advising website or by using Google Earth to look for accommodations in those places I will be visiting.By the way, I'm surprised they even spelled Prince Edward Island correctly on the front, seeing how they call it "Price Edward Island" in big bold letters twice (on page 153 and 158).This is the only travel book I bought for my upcoming trip there, and I wish it would have been more helpful for the places I am visiting.

We have used Lonely Planet guides in the past and have been very satisfied.The ebook guide to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick is lacking in detail.Using the guide on the IPad is not convenient for travel planning.

I like to buy books that I love for my book wall. Now that everything is digital I think people have gotten away from having a paper book in their hands. This covers are amazing and very eye catching. They look great on my shelf! I have read and LISTENED to this whole series a couple of times. The MC is very strong a with a hint of vulnerability. Just went I think I have things figured out I'm thrown for a loop. Defiantly grab these for your book shelf. You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely loved this series, all these books were amazing!I started reading and I could not stop until I got to the very last book.The constant building and releasing was awesome.I loved how the characters were both a blend of strong and vulnerable.A. K. Koonce most definitely knows how to weave her stories that makes the reader laugh, cry and growl all throughout the whole story.So itâ€™s a big HECK YEAH I most definitely positively recommend this book set because I thought it was totally fantastic!

When a book has a good premise and solid execution, itâ€™s that much harder that for wont of better editing, it could have been great. The female protagonist, Kara, is described as, anatomically, having blonde hair, she wishes she were less pretty, every synonym of the word â€œthinâ€, her â€œcoreâ€?, clenched thighs, and boots. The author repeated this litany exhaustively throughout the books without ever getting further into Kara or the other characters.

This is not her best series. That being said, this author is still a amazing. In this series I found the that there was more repetition in certain areas and it's not as steamy as some of her other book. Other than that the series is amazing. It's a captivating story that holds interest all the way through. It keeps you up late while you're flying through pages, it's that good.

I devoured all four books!! Canâ€™t get enough of Kara and her resilience. I love how self realization came with each character growth as the story progressed. At first I was iffy about Ryder, but after book three and in to book four I just fell in love with him. Book four just makes me fall in love more with Dario and Dax. Both brothers are just the right amount of strength and gentleness combined.

This was such a wonderful, fast paced story. Never a dull moment and always kept ya guessing on what would happen next. The characters were all very likeable and well developed. Definitely had some laughs, had some tears, but walked away from the series feeling content and happy with how it turned out.

Wow what a ride. I loved these books. I stayed up all night just to finish this series. And I was not disappointed. Some parts had me on the edge of my seat. So happy it ended the way it did. Wish there was more but I'll take a happy ending. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Great series!!! Kept me interested the whole time!!! It was so great and I just didnâ€™t want it to end!!

This book is totally x-rated so it's not for the kiddies. I ordered this from Amazon.com and sent it to someone who's deployed overseas. I have to say that he, and all of his team have gotten a huge kick out of this book! They've even come up with a board where they post a new "word of the week" every Tuesday and the rule is they have to use the word every day. He showed us his "first word" during a video chat and my boyfriend and I could NOT stop laughing. I thought it would be a neat little gift to lighten the spirits of some soldiers who are in harms way and stressful situations daily. If you need a good laugh, and don't mind being a little dirty, then I highly suggest this book!

Before I cursed like an unimaginative sailor, but now the word vomit spewing from my lips is pure art. My brain could have never fathomed that one day I would have a definitive term for worthless, idiotic people... nipple buckets.My heart has never been happier. I am a foul mouthed, creative genius to all who know me.

Pretty friggin funny. I bought this for my brother who clearly needs to broaden his vocabulary when it comes to cursing because he uses the F word way too often. However inn my opinion there are so many more creative/hilarious ways to get your point across. I just so happened to open it as soon as it came in in front of my father and the UPS guy (they chit chat every time he comes by) and my dad started reading it. I bought this for a white elephant gift exchange for Christmas and I was actually really bummed out that I ended up giving it away! I bought another one just for myself because it is so hilarious. If you are buying as a gift you'd better get 2!!

This book makes for a hilarious gift. Whether it be a stocking stuffer, gag gift, book to keep on the back of your toilet or if you are looking for an off the wall comment to debut the next time you get together with friends. The book is split down the middle so you can flip to a random word or page on the left side and then flip to a random word or page on the right side, combine the two words together and do your best not to crack up laughing. I gave this book to a family member as a joke for Christmas and have been on the receiving end of some fantastic creative cursing.

I got this as a gag gift for my brother-in-law. It was hilarious! I actually did not want to give it away since there were some really clever cursing combinations. My husband and I got a good hour's worth of entertainment going back and forth with names for one another. There are a lot of sexual components, so I would definitely consider your audience when playing around with the book. Of course it has curse words but others are just silly "diaper lover" I believe was one combination. Depending on how you flip, you could get a "clean curse" or a "dirty curse". Just be careful. Super fun!

A fun gift for people who don't mind a little off-color humor. I bought one for my husband for those days when things go wrong and your standard, everyday curses just don't cut it. :) We laugh out loud at some of the creative combinations. Not for folks easily offended by swear words.

I'm an "older" woman with the sense of humor of an obnoxious teenage boy. This little gem of obnoxious humor may not be appreciated by some adults. Keep away from the kiddos and share with like-minded individuals to fully enjoy what Creative Cursing has to offer.
