My wife and I are heading to Hedo in August and weve been looking for the REAL truth about Hedo2 well I believe we found it. Thank you for a very real very truthful book not only about the resort but also I get a heads up on trivia hell yeah. If you haven't ready this book and like us its your first time to the resort take the time to read it you will learn so much laugh so hard and absolutely know what your getting into. NOW WERE EVEN MOR EXCITED ABOUT GOING. Thanks again for a GREAT book.

Of course, if you've been to Hedonism it'll feel like you're taking a trip home each and every time you snatch up the book for a jaunt down memory lane.Don't miss this gem of a travel guide. I don't know the basis for Amazon Addict's criticism and one star review - the book is accurate, and a great read. In fact it's a must read if you're planning on going. I've been to Hedo II several times and had a blast. Even if you have no plans to go there the book is a fun read and a vicarious thrill to excite your imagination. Easiest 5-star review I've ever given. (Actually, the only one, come to think of it.)If you can spring for it, the longer version with the color pictures (a whopping $74.95) is worth the price for the added 'color' (pun intended). You might have to contact the author directly at Scarlet Oh! publishing to get it.

I’m not much for gushing over a book, but I do get a little excited when I find one that is firing on all cylinders. That is the case with “Ambush,” the new Sydney Rose Parnell thriller from author Barbara Nickless.This is the third book in the series, though that shouldn’t stop you from reading it. Although Ms. Nickless references some of the past events, new readers should have little trouble understanding what is happening. The only hiccup might come from the issues Sydney has brought back with her from time spent as a Marine in Iraq, but there should be enough explanation to help a new reader understand.This is not another railroad mystery, but a fast-paced story that begins with Sydney working on a private mission in Mexico. Before mid-book, the tale has involved every part of Sydney’s life, from her current job to her time as a Marine, and spilling over into her personal life (both past and present). There is plenty of action that continually propels the plot forward, and since Sydney is telling the story, we solve the mystery with her, clue by clue.Ms. Nickless is at the top of her game with this story. Meticulous research adds an element of realism missing from so many books today, breathing plenty of life into both the plot and the characters. Sydney tells the story with a level-headed cynicism, seasoned with the self-doubt of one who is grappling with the memories of a past that refuses to leave her be. I was extremely impressed with the author’s first two books in this series, but there is no doubt in my mind that “Ambush” is her best offering so far. Five stars.

I really liked the first two books in this series, the railroad cop angle was something that seemed really fresh, and I love the relationship between Sydney and her awesome dog/partner, Clyde. This book was a bit of a departure from the first two, the railroad wasn't a part of the story, and for me didn't seem as compelling. Sydney's involvement in a coverup that happening during her time serving as a Marine in Iraq has finally come to a head. The events were threaded through the first two books, but everything comes together here (and I disagree with some of the reviewers that this can be read as a standalone). I really wish the Kindle version had x-ray enabled to refresh my memory on the minor characters from previous books.There is a lot of action in this book, and not all of it comes off as believable, especially when people with horrible injuries seem to bounce back way too quickly. There are coverups, double agents, people back from the dead...it was a bit much!I'm definitely reading the next book in the series, as I'm invested in the characters, but I hope it's more focused on its strength: Sydney and Clyde investigating railroad crimes.

Once again, I'm drawn in immediately, right in the prologue. I have a love/hate relationship with Ms. Nickless; she draws me in but I know it won't even welll.It was written so well, no grammatical headed, no electronic glitches, well-developed characters, natural dialogue, and a riveting plot.I have to wonder, though, why Sydney didn't get someone in to do a sweep of Cohen's house immediately or check to see if her car/phone had a GPS tracking signal. It seems those should've been her first steps after returning to the US. It was taken care of, but I felt it happened too late in the story.That won't keep me from reading more of these stories, and others, by this gifted author.

Having been bowled over by the first 2 books in the Sydney Rose Parnell series, I eagerly anticipated the 3rd.After serving as a mortuary affairs Marine corporal in Iraq, Sydney returns to Colorado and becomes a RR cop along with her partner Clyde, a Belgian Malinois, who formerly served with Doug Ayres, the slain dark ops Marine she had loved.She sees ghosts, which her VA therapist says are manifestations of her grief and fears.She continues to search for Malik, the Arab boy whose life is threatened by events he witnessed in Iraq.I found the found the plot twists heart stopping; the relationships heart twisting, and the writing riveting.One of the rare books the is both escape reading and literature.

Barbara Nickless has delivered another fast-paced, well-written story that will thrill readers of the Sydney Rose Parnell series. When Jeremy Kane, another Marine connected to her time in Iraq, is murdered and people she loves are threatened Sydney is forced to confront her past and finally uncover the identity and motivation of the shadowy figure she calls the Alpha. This book has all the elements we have come to expect from this author: loads of action (including plenty featuring our favorite canine side-kick, Clyde), a well-crafted and twisty plot, and some cool law-enforcement technology. I am a devoted fan of Sydney and Clyde. Gone to Darkness, the next book in the series, can't come soon enough for me.For readers new to the series: I think Nickless has done a good job of providing enough background that readers jumping in with book 3 won't be completely lost. However, I really think you will enjoy this book more if you first read Blood on the Tracks and Dead Stop.

Sydney Rose is an exceptionally strong and interesting heroine. This book gives closure to the mystery surrounding her time in Iraq and the boy she left behind.I hope Nickless gives us more adventures with Sydney and Clyde - perhaps with less peril and more of her amazing deduction skills.

Have read this author's previous books with Kindle Unlimited and feel that they can't be beat. I enjoyed them so much I pre-ordered this one at full price. Worth every penny. If this genre is your thing, do not hesitate to purchase this book.

Again, another great mystery with the continuation of the previous thread about Malik, the boy from Iraq. Ambush is almost read as a one sitter. Really hard to put down from beginning to end.

I just finished this book. The idea is very well structured. It is written in a way that follows its own advice. Show the convincing implication first, refer to other experts' ideas, present progress bar, etc. It made me to write a review about the book at the end, because I felt awesome after finishing the book.It does refer a collection of books as one-star reviewer said, but the way I see is how she connected them to form one "product", which what I mean by that, is this book. The final product is much more powerful than the sum of individual ones. It is similar to what I felt with iPhone in early days - Apple didn't invent any of individual technologies used. They found right combination of existing technologies and ideas to build a product they envisioned, IMHO.I didn't buy Kindle version. I can see reading this on a kindle can be challenging.I am surprised that this book does not have thousands of 5 stars yet. Adding one toward that now.

Overall, Kathy Sierra explains user-centered design in an unconventional and compelling manner. The book reads fairly quickly, and may be good backup to clients and team members when working on product and service design projects. She gives good detail on why even good products and/or services can fail in the marketplace, and the steps taken to correct this.

Brilliant book about product design. The pictures and examples make it easy and enjoyable to read. Kathy Sierra is an excellent communicator and her approach to product development is excellent. It has helped shape the way that I approach my work as a software engineer. I have recommended it to friends in my field and they have also said that it helped them in the same way.

I can't say enough good about this book. You need to get it in print. I have read it and read it and highlighted it. It's such a great map to creating the right kinds of things.

This book truly gets me thinking in a different direction and I really like it. The author basically says that it's common for companies to design and sell their products as the center of the universe, when the center of the universe really is the user. The author teaches that products/services are tools that people need to reach a bigger goal, and there is more then one product/service that will help the user achieve this bigger goal.For example, let's say you want to become really good at photography. You buy a camera, a tripod, books on the subject, and Adobe Photoshop all in hopes of becoming bad-ass at photography. However, if any of those tools fail to help you achieve this bigger goal either the user will find a tool that does or just give up feeling the entire process has been made to hard and maybe even too expensive.The author goes on to outline how to help users achieve their goal through your product/service. Basically, she outlines a teach method that research has shown to work really well for people in general.This is one book that stays on my bookshelf, because I will read it again. As it has been a great asset in developing my overall skills in user experience design.

If you read no other book on usability and building customers for life, READ THIS ONE. It will change the way you think about users, their context and how to get and keep them. HINT: It's not about your tool / app / website!

I write short stories and books, and I have NEVER found such a small book so useful for helping me set up my opening, plot, scenes, deepen my characters, and get my point of view correct. This takes what is written in words in so many of my writers books and explains it in visuals with a paragraph of text. It's like having a coach in a small book you can slip in a briefcase or a purse Great for those of us who are visual learners.

My daughter is thinking about going to film school. She doesn't like to read dense books, so I thought this would be an easy way to get her some basic info. She really has enjoyed it.

My son seen this book and wondered if it was worth the price-limited funds while in film school. Later reading through the reviews I noticed it was loved by pretty much everyone, even photographers of which I am one. So...I bought it for him, but borrow it for me. Is that right? Oh well, it works for us.

I am going through this workbook with my therapist. We have only gotten through the first six chapters, and already, it's made a HUGE difference in my life. I anticipate that I will be able to say that this book was literally life-changing for me, and that the decision to go through this workbook was a pivotal one in my life. If you think that you might even have mild self-esteem issues, I encourage you to get this workbook. I don't know whether it is advised to try to go through it on your own. I know that, for me, I wouldn't get as much out of it without the insights and guidance of my counselor.

I am a licensed counselor and I recommend this book to clients. I have seen great results.

Nothing in this book that isn't already common sense. Take care of yourself. Get some sleep. Get some exercise. Eat better. Well, no kidding, really? Right away it has you read all kinds dietary info that seems Greek to me. With this info it wants you to draw up your own diet. The whole thing just seems so out of touch with the realities of true low esteem. I reckon that people who find this book helpful are not truly struggling with low self esteem. The more one thinks about it, the more one has to doubt that any workbook could actually do anything for anyone.Another book for the donation pile.

I had some wrong ideas in my head. This book has enormously helped me in gaining an accurate understanding self worth. At first it felt counter intuitive, but when I applied those ideas in my life, I understood it's the right thing.

I am only a week in to this book and it has some how changed my life already. I was told about this book from a friend whom said.."Follow all the instructions and steps and take it seriously." Not going to lie. I was going to skip the first part where it has you do nutrition. It helps you with guidelines but it really makes you sit and think about how you can change your diet and believe me...having a good diet is helpful. Life throws you dodge balls all the time, you need to get physically better before working on the mental stuff which is going to be ten times harder. I recommend this book already and I havent even gotten past page 10 yet. Less than a week to go and I can honestly say that my diet is here for good. Change for the better is good.

I have only read through chapter 3 right now, but I have learned a lot from this book. However, I think the book is only effective if you are ready for change.

It has lots of exercise. They help change the way you may think of yourself. Gives messages to say to yourself to get rid of the negative ones that are present now.

This workbook helped me tremendously. I give so much honor and thank you to the Authors. Brilliant!

The ideal and essential book for intermediate level people learning rails. You've gone through the rubyonrails.org guide(s), maybe even micharl hartl's, or baserails (excellent, not so well known resource btw). Now, what? How do you build your own complex idea that have more than just has_many associations, or are clones of popular apps? What does fat model actually mean in practice? How do I loosely couple and APPLY law of demeter?This book is not just about what not to do, or refractoring things to that it's extra "rails-y". The reason it's so valuable for intermediate developers is because by seeing the recommended ways to implement, and organize your code, against anti-patterns (aka bad practices that don't fully utilize what rails designed to make neat and concise), you get to LEARN the rails methods and features that don't even show up in all of the beginner rails tutorials in out there, and you get to learn exactly how to USE methods and features that rails has to offer without going into ultra low level ruby that leave you scratching your head, and frustrated.Just like how object oriented design philosophy tells you to use interfaces to not care about the detailed implementation of distant objects, so too should teaching something relatively complicated and confusing like a framework teach you how and what to use its methods and features without bogging you down with every single detail about the method, or approaching it from such a highly academic, and non-practical way. This book does just that. It gives you a bad example, explains the most useful and practical way of improving it, shows you the new example (even multiple examples as it increments the improvements by illustrating one concept at a time), and you end up with the knowledge to APPLY those principles concretely to your own app you might be building. APIs, the rubyonrails.org guides, even apidock doesn't do this that well. As good as stack overflow is, it's quite difficult to get to know rails well as an intermediate level learner of rails, since SO's answers are often not organized, go into too much or too little detail, can be targeted at advance level developers, as well as you not knowing what you should study next.Sandi Metz's design patterns in ruby book is extremely well written, and rated extremely highly. You will see the similar styles, intentions of conveying thorough, but concise knowledge of practices, and also find it very useful. while object oriented programing in ruby is important, and very good, you will end up not knowing how to implement it, as it is rather distant from rails. This book is what you should read before Sandi's book, where it's in a similar style, but very applicable and very actionable to rails, and your project(s) that you may be building for a portfolio to land that junior rails developer job.I'm very surprised this book doesn't have that many reviews. I think it is truly one of the essential books in the track for someone who wants to become a senior developer from zero programming familiarity. This book fills an essential gap in the spectrum of difficulty and progress.P.S. to those who say this book contains too many useless, and obvious bad design patterns: where did you learn these concepts before? I couldn't find many good resources. Even if they're out there, curation is quite a valuable thing. Any review like that should be cognizant of the level of experience imo. Perhaps this book is not as good for seasoned rails developers. But it is truly one of the best and rare resources that fills a ladder rung in the path from beginnerhood to expertise. Again. I'd love to know where other rails developers learned the patterns and practices if not from this book. While working in a company with experienced developers? Well, not everyone has that kind of access to resources. To some, it's a catch-22, where you need to build a portfolio to get a job to get mentored. Disregarding all of that, it's still useful to not to have to rely on person-to-person training, or have to rely on reading the source code. Some people truly are great at code, and can read source code from ground-up as a primary learning method. Some are already seasoned in ruby and rails enough to read it as well. I think seasoned developers are too ignorant of this reality. Others have different learning styles. Some teaching methods are simply statistically faster, easier, and more effective. I'll be honest, prior to reading this book I was starting to lose faith in Ruby on Rails authors. As a beginner to Rails, I've read a number of books to try and make sense of all the black magic going on behind the scenes as well as how to write great code in Rails. Many of those books were either "paint by number" tutorials where you didn't really learn anything appreciable or very complete (and hard to comprehend) reference manuals for everything there is to possibly know about Rails.I just needed a good in between book! This book not only exposes you to the Rails Way of writing code in Ruby on Rails, it also gives many of the opposing examples which I would more than likely stumble down not knowing any better.Not only that, but this is one of the most logically organized books I have ever had the pleasure to read. Everything flows together very nicely and is very understandable for beginners let alone more advanced users.I would recommend this book in a heart beat (and I already have... many, many times). Great job guys! I really appreciate the effort you put into writing this book! You have restored my faith in Rails authors!

All too often, the 'patterns' books only develop a greenfield example the 'right' way. This is hopelessly optimistic, especially if (as is the case for me) you're teaching undergraduates how to use design patterns; they're not going to get it right the first time. So *refactoring* code that has "grown bad" to use a good pattern is a much more frequently needed skill.There are other books on refactoring for Ruby, like Martin's, but i like that this one focuses on design patterns and specifically on how to leverage Ruby's features to realize the patterns nicely.My future coverage of design patterns in Berkeley's undergraduate software engineering class will be motivated by the examples in this book.

This is great for the Rails developer transitioning from beginning to intermediate / advanced in his learning of web design. This book covers the many common issues developers can face when designing code for production and how to avoid those "antipatterns"

This book makes a great companion to Martin Fowler's Refactoring book (or the Ruby version of it by Jay Fields). As someone who's still accumulating the theoretical 10,000 hours of experience it takes to master something (Ruby/Rails), it's nice to have guides like Chad and Tammer there to suggest improvements to my technique. Highly recommended for anyone novice or intermediate Rails developer.

This book each rails dev should read more than once, it so well written and examples are really good. It contains day to day problems which Rails developers are facing and making bad practice decisions.I must say, I highly recommend each beginner to buy this book along with any beginner level book
